There are many things I would love to do more of but life always seems to get in the way. As I walked the aisles of the Photo Plus Expo in NYC this past week I walked by the booth of Flixel. Flixel makes software for the mac, iPhone and iPad that creates cinemagraphs. A cinemagraph is a still picture that moves. I had purchased the Cinemagraph+ app over a year ago but never really put it to good use.
To use Cinemagraph+ effectively you really need a tripod mount for your iPhone. As I continued to walk the aisle of Photo Plus I saw a vendor selling iPhone holders that mount to tripods. The item, which may be very sturdy was also very expensive. Over $40! I thought, surely I can find a similar product online for much cheaper.
After searching Amazon.com I came across the Square Jellyfish Smartphone Spring Tripod Mount for Smart Phones. It was almost identical to the one I saw at the expo but cost only $14.95. So armed with my new iPhone tripod mount I set out make a cinemgraph or two.
