The Washington Monument is now open again for visitors. A short elevator ride takes you to the top of the monument where you will get to see the amazing view it offers of our nation’s capital. The monument had been closed to visitors since it was damaged in a 2011 earthquake. Completed in 1884 the monument stands 555 feet tall. It is the worlds tallest stone structure. Be sure to add this to your to do list in Washington but get there early. Tickets sell out for the day fast. In this photo the World War II Memorial, the Reflecting Pool and Lincoln Memorial are visible.
