Did Apple Just Leak the Nikon Z70?

Apple may have accidentally revealed Nikon’s next camera.

For a short time, an unannounced Nikon Z70 appeared on Apple’s official list of authorized ProRes and ProRes RAW products. After the listing attracted attention, the Z70 mysteriously disappeared.

Was it a simple database error, a product listed before its announcement or our strongest evidence yet that Nikon is developing a professional DX mirrorless camera?

In this video, I separate what we actually know from what remains speculation. We’ll examine what Apple’s listing could tell us about the Nikon Z70, why ProRes authorization matters and whether this could finally be the mirrorless successor to the Nikon D500.

I also explore three possible sensor directions for the Z70:

A faster version of Nikon’s familiar 20.9-megapixel DX sensor

A 26-megapixel stacked BSI sensor designed for maximum speed

A 40 to 45-megapixel stacked or partially stacked sensor with enough resolution for serious cropping and potentially 8K video

Could the Z70 become a miniature Z9, a DX version of the ZR or one of the most ambitious APS-C cameras Nikon has ever produced?

For now, the Nikon Z70 remains a rumor. But Apple’s disappearing listing has certainly made that rumor much more interesting.

Which would you prefer: approximately 26 megapixels with maximum speed and better high-ISO performance, or 40 to 45 megapixels with more room to crop?
